Fall in Love with Cooking: Wife Wednesday

Hello Dolls!

As a wife, it’s very important that we take care of our home! One way to do so is by providing our family with full bellies. Some of us are naturally gifted in the kitchen whether it’s cooking or baking. I personally favor baking due to my untamable sweet tooth!

Now is the time to fall in love with your kitchen. If you’re like me, you’re home all day which means you’re in and out of the kitchen constantly. In my opinion, cooking shouldn’t feel like a chore. If you aren’t the best, I encourage you to learn to love it. Food is a beautiful thing! You don’t have to whip out a 9-course meal. It takes patience and experimenting to create the perfect dish. Although mamas’ and grandmas’ recipe books are all in their heads, so they don’t usually write it down, they are a great source for learning.

If you’re already in love with cooking, but wiped out on recipes then I have a simple and delicious one for you down below. As the Dominican Princess it’s only right for me to give you a Caribbean delight! Be sure to send & tag me in your pictures!

Always with Love,

Ebony Nikita

Jerk Salmon & Sweet Peppers Recipe:

(4 Servings)

4 Salmon Filets (skin-on)

2 Tablespoons of jerk seasoning

2 Teaspoons of Smoked Paprika

2 Teaspoons of grounded black pepper

1 Tablespoon of freshly chopped garlic

Himalayan Salt to taste

A Squeeze of Lemon

6 Sweet Peppers (Red, Yellow, Orange)

Directions:

1. Wash the Salmon with cold water. On a cutting board lay out each salmon filet and lightly season with Himalayan salt, ground black pepper and smoked paprika.

2. Apply jerk seasoning evenly on each filet. Top it off with a squeeze of a lemon.

3. While the salmon fillets are marinading (overnight or for a few minutes), roughly chop the sweet peppers and coat with leftover jerk seasoning.

4. Heat olive oil a in a pan on medium-high, add chopped garlic and cook salmon skin down for 4 minutes.

5. After 4 minutes add in sweet peppers. Then flip the salmon over and cook for 4 minutes for a good sear.

6. Plate salmon and peppers over a bed of red beans and rice or seasoned rice.

7. Serve with veggies of your choice (I choose seared carrots since I didn’t have the traditional cabbage and carrots)

8. Pray & Enjoy!
